Doctoral thesis defence: Danna Galván Hernández

On November 21, the Mind, Brain, and Behavior Research Center (CIMCYC) at the University of Granada hosted the defense of Danna Galván Hernández’s doctoral thesis, entitled: “Weaving Solidarity: A Psychosocial Analysis of the Processes of Alliance and Conflict between the Feminist and LGBTIQA+ Movements.”

The PhD, supervised by Dr. Soledad de Lemus Martín and Dr. Lucía Estevan Reina, delves into the psychosocial processes underlying alliances between disadvantaged groups for social change. The thesis explores the convergences, tensions, and possibilities for cooperation between the feminist movement and the LGBTIQA+ community in the current Spanish context.

The panel highlighted not only the academic excellence and relevance of the findings for social psychology and gender studies, but also the innovative nature of the approach.

Following the presentation and discussion with the panel members, the new doctor received the highest grade. The day was characterized by an atmosphere of intellectual exchange and celebration, marking the end of a period of high-impact research in the study of social movements.
